Prepping for the Sabbatical Year: As if you needed one more reason to prep.

Dear Friends, I want to begin by apologizing for my lack of attention to this site. I had to make a decision of which was more important; writing, which I love, or helping others prepare for what is coming our way. I chose to help, rather, we chose to help. Von chose to help me help others.

Leftovers, Lagniappe and La-Z-Boys

Although this article is NOT about leftovers at the dinner table, it could be. The title is based on the terms that I learned growing up. My family was from central Louisiana but I was raised in south Louisiana. This is similar to having your family from England and raising you in France.

Don’t Forget the Small Stuff!

A few years ago there was a self-help book on the New York Times Best Sellers list entitled “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff (and it is all small stuff)” I guess I am going to take a contrarian view because I want to get you to think about the small stuff.

What Did We Accomplish?

In the previous post you may have gotten the idea that the trip was not a succss. We did get our supplies safely there and inventoried as I stated. We also located a site for two more cabins. The cabin that we were able to start will be for Von and I and then the third cabin will be for visitors (also read refugees.)

Home Again

gets together during the months of February in winter and June/July for the summer. These get-togethers are to discuss strategy, current events around the world, go over our preparations and, many times, construct a cabin, road, LP/OP or some other needed improvement to our refuge. We have traditionally met in February because so many members of my family, including myself, have a birthday during the month. This year my mother turned 90 years old and when asked what she wanted to do for her birthday her response was to go to the World War II National Museum in New Orleans Louisiana

Me and the little mouse in the picture have one thing in common, I don’t intend to give up. Maybe I won’t solve all the world’s problems, free mankind from the shackles of Debt Structured Bondage, find a Real cure for warts or anything else profound.

Menagerie Update

Stardate: 4/24

Okay, it is a little melodramatic since I don’t have a starship Enterprise but I want to use this opportunity to explain the meaning of 4/24, which I am sure some of you know already, and to dangle my feet a little. (more on that in a moment.) I know some of this is going to sound a bit outlandish, but I am basing this on a lifetime of service to my country, research and yes, some intestinal discernment, you know, gut instinct. Since these are my personal feelings on the matter it is a lot like dreaming you are walking naked in front of everyone you know. And, you know me, I am always one to avoid controversy.

I used the terms art and science because a cache is often misunderstood and often as not, mispronounced. The word cache comes from French and is pronounced “kash” or “cash” just like the word for the Federal Reserve Notes in your wallet.
