15 Decisions You May Have To Make in 2012

In earlier articles I  tried to highlight the problems that we are faced with in this day and age not only in America but also throughout the world. Wherever you look, the United States is poised for war with some country. We are poised for war against Syria, Iran, China, Pakistan, Russia and possibly even Yemen. If the implications of this ideology, gunboat diplomacy, does not make you so mad that you want to chew nails and spit tacks then there is nothing I can say or do to help you. You have my prayers and fondest hopes for a prosperous New Year.

If you suspect something is wrong, but aren’t sure just what it might be, let me give you some sites to go and investigate for yourself, what is about to befall our world and in particular, our country. This is just a small sampling of the sites on the web that are helping, not only Americans, but people around the world to try to wake up before it is too late:

  1. www.infowars.com
  2. www.dollarcollapse.com
  3. www.theeconomiccollapseblog.com
  4. www.drudgereport.com
  5. www.sgtreport.com
  6. www.shtfplan.com
  7. www.zerohedge.com
  8. www.corbettreport.com
  9. http://dont-tread-on.me
  10. www.theinternationalforecaster.com

Now, if you can’t find a place to start with ten top-notch resources like those above you are in bigger trouble than you realize. You may not agree with everything on all of these sites, and you may not agree with all of what is on any one site. That doesn’t matter. What matters is that any one of these sites has more factual, hard-hitting news than all the mainstream media sites put together.

Now I will make a bold leap forward. If you are here at the https://codgerville.wordpress.com site you probably know or feel that something is not quite right. Perhaps you can’t quantify it. Perhaps, you know in you mind or feel it in your gut that something bad is about to happen. If you do, then I address the following decisions to you.

Every American will need to make decisions in 2012. Some Americans will make a decision to ignore the problems of world and the world will make all the decisions for them, but the decisions will be made. What decisions? Simple, those that will affect the lives of everyone in this country and may affect others around the world:

  1. If there is a major financial collapse, i.e. the Euro, the dollar, credit default swaps, another Lehman/Bear Stearns type collapse do you have the hard money resources to provide for your family for the duration of the emergency?
  2. If the United States suffers from the initial stages of hyperinflation, do you have the resources to provide for the needs of your family, i.e. food, water, shelter, hygiene, medical care, clothing and safety?
  3. If the United States goes to war with Iran, and the war remains a conventional war, if the Straits of Hormuz are blocked, will you be able to handle $200-300/barrel oil prices?
  4. If the above war turns into a nuclear conflagration involving the U.S., Russia and/or China are you living in an area that is a low risk zone for nuclear or biological attack?
  5. If the world commodity prices skyrocket due to any of the above scenarios do you have enough fresh water and food on hand to feed your family for an extended period of time, i.e. 3 months, 6 months, 1 year?
  6. If the U.S. dollar collapses for whatever reason, and the cities become literal war zones because “transfer” payments (welfare, medicaid, food stamps, etc.) cease or are worthless, will you be able to protect and defend your home and family from looters?
  7. In Number 6 above, will you be able to feed your family until the violence ends?
  8. In the event that the United States Government declares a national emergency because of one of the above scenarios, or catastrophic natural calamity or because of a “terror” event that has taken place, will you be willing to let your family go to a relocation center/F.E.M.A. center for their own good?
  9. If you are a member of the armed forces and are directed to round-up certain potentially dangerous individuals and take them to a detention facility, will you do it?
  10. If you are a member of the armed forces and are directed to go from house to house to collect guns and other “dangerous” weapons, will you obey the order?
  11. If because of the military’s refusal to arrest civilians or collect firearms, the U.S. government uses police and military from other nations to enforce the law, will you, as someone who has sworn to protect and defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic, stand idley by and do nothing?
  12. If the forces, designated by the U.S. Government, show up at your door to take you and/or your family to a detention facility, will you go peaceably with them?
  13. If the forces, designated by the U.S. Government show up at your door to collect your firearms, will you give them up?
  14. Knowing that there is only one candidate running for the office of President of the United States, in either the Democrat or Republican parties that promises to restore the Constituion, will you get off your butt and vote for him? (Yes, Ron Paul!)
  15. If it were possible, would you be willing to change your lifestyle in order to protect your family from any or all of the scenarios above?

Do I have all the answers for you? No, you know better than that. I have tried in my other articles to give a strategy to use or adapt to your needs, to help you make some of those decisions possible. Ultimately, no one person can change the world, not even the President of the United States of America. It will take all of us working together to get tangible results. But the only person that can answer these questions for you is yourself. Only you know what you are willing to do when faced with the above situations. Notice, I did say willing and not capable and that is for a reason. I have seen people, who in the face of danger or certain death, do things that defied logical thinking or rational thought. That is called courage. Whether male or female, having a set of cahones to give you the courage to make that impossible split second decision in 2012 will be a necessity.

I believe that 2012 for America, will be in the course of human history, that split second that will take courage to make those almost impossible decisions. Start thinking about them. Formulate your strategy and even your response. Set you mind to the task and be prepared to follow your heart, even when it defies logic or rational thought. You never know what one person is capable of until you try. Happy New Year!

Dare to do great things in 2012!

  1. Thank you for this, especially “You never know what one person is capable of until you try.” Just the reminder and boost I needed tonight. Happy New Year to you as well!

  2. Seems like at least five on the list had to do with firearms (6,10, 11,12,13). That is 5 out of 15. Perhaps 1/3 of all my main concerns for 2012 should be around themes inherient to the Second Admendment – and learning how to properly use my firearms. I still do not have access to a shot gun. Most of the other ladies I know have a shot gun as their first line of defense after locked doors and dogs fail.

  3. I felt pretty good when reading the list above. I am already following each of them – many on a daily basis.

Here is another that I enjoy immensely. I have a hard time remembering and understanding history in a context that relates to what is happening these days. Martin Armstrong educates me in a manner that would normally be unreachable. http://www.martinarmstrong.org

  4. Good site. Just found it. Great advise, questions and the …truth. Please try to look at preppergroups.com and if you like it, then you might add it to your list. Some of us out here are locked and loaded for years. We try to network and join with others through that site who have done the same. Done what you advised them to do above…. Thanks again 😉

    • Thanks Rancher,

We have been since the early ’80’s. We moved all our preps to New Mexico in 1994> Louisiana started growing t fast for me. I like the quiet of the mountains. Good luck to you and yours in 2012. Don’t forget to have all your friends and family pray for our country, our leaders and for ourselves, so that we will have the necessary courage and strength to do everything we can to keep our nation free.

      • Right on and it great to hear of another who has had the self drive to actually do something the vast majority of preppers just jaw jack about.

    • Thanks. We see the collapse of our nation from several sides. One being the Roman Empire military occupations for decades on end and endless self justified engagements we move on from one to another over. The ruining our economic platform doing so and creating a society co-dependent on the govt to ensure control over.

We feel it will either elf correct or crash. We sadly believe the latter. However our personal lives would be easier if it did not. We therefore prep and run our growing group hoping for the best. I have no bone to pick with DC in a confrontational sense. I do vote but feel the choices to vote for are provided more by the problem center than from a solution stand point.

As my hat says… Keep It Simple.

  5. Codger,
Happy New Year to you and yours. May you all be safe and well as you continue about our Father’s business… I’ve been paying attention since the ’60s, and my sense is that you are right on target. I have worked in folks’ homes consistently over 30+ years (chimney sweep), and most of the folks I’ve met feel that “something’s up”, no matter their specific awareness or specific level of understanding. Your assessment of the amount of preparation seems pretty close, in my experience, but is rising rapidly, which is a good thing. The good news is, even if by some miracle we’re proven wrong, we still have the benefit of a life of personal responsibility and integrity, and better and closer relationships with our families and neighbors. Meanwhile, here’s to keeping our tools oiled and sharpened, and our powder dry. Thank you for sharing your experiences and perspective…sharing knowledge is one of the best ways of creating true wealth. When we teach something to another, we are both enriched. Regardless of how much gold or silver you own, I would say that you are a rich man indeed.

  8. These harsh realities could be around the corner, but if you want a dose of reality, anyone who thinks their life is going to be easier is in for a harsh and rude awakening. Fight this kind of thinking and invest in your country now. If you are thinking about taking up arms to resolve the situation, you have now entered the ranks of fatalism and cynicism. Commit the same time and thought to how you can improve the situation.

    • Hi Tom,

I am running behind the curve in getting emails answered so forgive my delay. I have tried to work in the system. I provided intel briefings to the White House staff during the Hostage “Crisis” which was just a huge political game with real people losing their lives. I lost numerous friends because we tried to do right. I saw great men who tried to bring peace to a region of death assassinated by CIA operatives. Anwar Sadat was a brilliant man with a vision and was assassinated for his vision. Sayid Waleed was executed by the CIA in an effort to start the first Gulf War. I tried to campaign for honest men and women in politics but they were constantly rejected by the establishment, no matter what the people wanted. Kind of like Ron Paul right now. (Go to YouTube and listen to the Chris Wallace interview of Carl Rove on the night of the Iowa caucus.)

Do I think I will be better off. No. But I pray that my grandchildren and great grandchildren will be. When the Founding Fathers declared war on the super power of their day, did they do so to be better off or so that their children and grandchildren would be? War is a last resort but sometimes it is the only resort. I pray that it does not come but if it does, I may die first of all, but it will be in the hope that my posterity will live in freedom.
Thans for the visit and the comment.

      • Tom,

Just want to let you know I do try to help build up the country/economy. I buy things needed to survive the harsh reality of the disaster which will befall us all. The disaster my countries leaders have created and which we will pay for. I will also do nothing to promote this house of cards to continue if I do not have to. That includes investing into it. Let’s bring it to a head today!!

Do you find it interesting no questions are asked to those running for office what they think about FIAT money?

  9. Sound, sage questions. As I read the questions it came to me that although I thought I was prepared, now I realize I’m not. People really need to take a good look and see where they stand, we are all going to have to make a decision, it will be painful, but it must be made. There is no doubt the current standard of living is on borrowed time, it is not going to last much longer and those of us that still have jobs need to start putting up supplies.
I belong to an organization called Oathkeepers, it is an organization of law enforcement and military, both active and retired. The only requirement is that we support and live by the US Constitution, we all took an oath, not to the despots that are wrecking our country, but to the most important document in the world, the US Constitution. I am confident that the VAST majority of police and military will NOT violate their sacred oath, just watch out for the UN troops or even Chinese troops.
Russia is telling us that we MUST put obama back in or it could go bad for us. Sound ominous? It should, we now have foreign nationals telling US how to vote? The fact they are telling us to vote for an avowed socialist strengthens my resolve to vote for the only man who will return us to a true republic and downsize the US federal government, RON PAUL. As I tell everyone else, don’t take my word for it, go to any or all of the sites mentioned above, make your own informed deciscion.

  10. Hi, glad I fell into yr site.
Dimitri Orlov traveled in the Former Soviet Union during the Collapse. He blogs at::
Part way down on the rt side is an icon made of the Soviet and US flags. A concise comparison of possible vs actual collapse scenarios..
Always trade-able in crisis times are cigarettes (tobacco in general), booze (Orlov traded half liter bottles of vodka for ten liters of gasoline on a road trip), and over the counter drugs (the other kind are always salable) are worth their weight in gold. What’s an aspirin worth to you if you have a headache? Or a toothbrush? And the store hasn’t had any for weeks and can’t say when they will?
What when you go to the grocery not to get what you want, but to see what they have?
Thanks for the tips. I’m nearing 74, lame from auto accident, still doing, but slower….

    • Nice list of reminders. Thank you. I have some vodka and whisky put away. About 40 of the airline size ones, and 3 of the bigger ones. I keep thinking things will you hyper bad come 2015. No real reason – just feel that way. 2015-1018 feel bad very bad to me.

Household budgeting issues have caused me to get into my longterm storage food more than I wish to admit. I guess that is good for food rotation. Just hope I can keep adding to the supplies.

I have one cartoon of cigs in the freezer. One drum of Prince Albert, and several doses of the Nicorette type products for nicotine withdrawel.

I have heard that cigarette lighters could be a hot commodity during WROL.
